So, I know the entire internet is at SPX right now, or whatever, so this should go about as noticed as the majority of my posts.

As some of you may have speed-read past on your way to comics about cute bears and historical figures, I worked on a little flash show for MTV that has started airing last month. They were airing it Mon-Thurs at 6:30 EST, but now they're running it like, every day at 11pm. It's called Popzilla and it's kind of like a SouthPark / Jib Jab satire thing that makes fun of various celebrities. Think SNL, but not Live. Or on Saturdays. MTV has also started compiling highlights of all the episodes shown during a week. Here are three clips I did that were highlighted from the first two weeks. (That's pretty good, since I only did 12 clips total)

So, I did a couple clips with this celebrity. I really didn't have any idea who this guy was, in fact, I still don't really. Hopefully MTV viewers do.

I really liked doing this one. I also made the cd cover graphics at the end, which was fun, because I had to do multiple versions.

And here, is the big one. Of all the 12 clip I did, this one is the one I really hope gets passed around. I'll get yelled at like David Letterman! Please pass it around!

I'm really hoping to work on some children's programming again soon. I don't want to get pigeonholed into this kind of blue stuff exclusively. Though this show has been interesting to work on.

"John Hill, professional music video director".

That's right, MTV has picked up the video I did for Scripts and Screwz. It's online now, I'm waiting to hear if it'll be on the television box or not.

I think the version up on Vimeo is still of a better quality, but whatever.

More available at the website

They finally decided to finish editing and put up the latest episode of Colonel Deese. I finished it months ago. I'm pretty pleased with how the card game sequence turned out. Vote funny and all that shit.

Newgrounds
Is now apparently being featured on their front page. I've actually had this happen a couple times in the past, but that was way back when I was in college, and when getting featured on the front page of Newgrounds was like.... the literal end all and be all of doing something in Flash.

It still feels pretty cool.

About a year ago me and another guy worked on a pitch for Adult Swim for this writer named Andrew, who apparently worked on Robot Chicken. How many pitches for Adult Swim have I been attached to? I don't know, I've lost count.

Anyway, he finally got it up on the web, and on Newgrounds no less. Take a look if your interested:

TOBACCO MAN

Vote or review, or whatever. You run your own life.

It's gotten decent scores so far, but there have been some relatively legitimate gripes about the audio quality. I just animated the first half of it, I didn't compress or upload it. I'll probably promote it a little harder once it's up on a different site.

And now, I piss you off by reposing the other cartoons I've done recently.

This thing has been getting an average of about 10 views a day, which is pretty good considering. I hope you give it a chance.

Did I mention there was a narwal who plays the drums? Internet, you love that kind of shit.

Don't worry, I'm not going to triple post this, unless something wonderful, or horrible happens in the next day or so.

That kind of post in which I have finished a thing, and ask you to look at it. And then I ask you to please share it with your lj lists and other friends.
Thanks.

It took me several months to complete this, of course it wasn't ever my primary project any of those months, so in all I think I probably only spent about 3 weeks to a month of actual "time". However, it feels like I've been working on it my whole life, so I hope some of you dig it. If you like the track, you can find more over at their website, vimeo page, other music video, and myspace.

Laura is at work at the bookstore, and I'm actually teaching all day (if you can imagine), so we're missing the annual "Irish Day" carnival and parade extravaganza in our hometown of Erin this year. If you're interested in just how much fun this could be, feel free to watch the last installment over at VideoBestFriends.

Also, the new (and currently final) short for Deese Nuts I produced is up:

Please watch it, vote it funny, show your moms, whatever. I need more money.

One of two of a proposed five shorter episodes I'm currently working on. (Two done, three more possible.)

Hope you enjoy. Give it a vote if you like it, I need the work(s). The longer episode can still be found here!

Animax, the studio I worked at in L.A. produced this, and it's apparently setting the FOD world on fire right now.

I think its pretty funny. Of course, this venture into pseudo-live action and puppetry doesn't really bring me any of that contract work I lay awake at night dreaming about (read: crying over), but I can't really hold it against them for wanting to branch out. And it's quite an effort!

Of course, there is always the thing I did work on that was uploaded last week:

What do you think it means when you avoid sleep because everytime you lay down with nothing to preoccupy your thoughts it feels like you're being held under water?

I think it means you really want to watch your tivo.

I don't have much free time to do comic-y stuff like I used to. In between my fun, albeit low paying freelance gigs (thanks economy!), such as my job over at Deese Nuts:

Please vote again if you already did, they had to reupload because of a snafu in the credits, so we're kind of starting from scratch again. And if you can, please share it on your blogs, or whatever.

And the music video I'm working on for a rap duo out of St. Louis:

Screen shots to entice you, hopefully I'll finish this soon. (I HAVE to finish this soon.)

Plus my adventures helping the bookstore move into the 6,000+ sq foot two story brick building we just BOUGHT, and preventing said building from flooding due to plumbing issues (THANKS PREVIOUS SHITTY OWNERS!), all on top of my semi-full time teaching job it doesn't leave me a lot of time for hourly comic day, or trying to raise money for cons, or putting together a mini. But that doesn't mean I don't want to do these things.

In fact, when I find the time to doodle, I've been trying to work out a few characters for a short comic (four - five issues) that I began to dream up after[info]himynameisjamie kind of bailed on the larger project that the characters were originally developed for.

Detective Roughs
I'm trying to do two things in this. Create an appealing look for the main character, who is an older retired super hero turned private detective, simplify said look and style down into a forumla that looks good, but is very easy for me to duplicate over and over. It's a hard thing for me to do, to simplify a design down. I don't neccessarily want it to look cartoony, like my flash work, but I have to get it simpler than this. The bottom left one is based on someone else's drawing, which is why it isn't fleshed out, but it is so close to what I want. I just have to figure out a way of absorbing it without stealing it. The one about mid way down on the left, with the note about lifting the left eye is also very very close to what I want. Once I nail this guy down I can move on to the other main characters. And once I have those nailed down, I can start writing the script.

This is cool enough, I mean, guy in jetpack cool, but the guy at the end with the awkward high five. That's the moment.

On the 21st of November the town of Edmonton, Canada, pretty much saw the Martians land.

They've already taken over our oil rigs. Remember to tell your kids about this from the enslavement camps.
